Being a parent to a nonverbal child is something that cant be fully expressed. And 14 years later, the teen years has brought more challenges into the forefront that I never could have anticipated. Or considered, until reality finally loomed and faced us.

My son's inability to express himself verbally or convey his emotions often leaves me with a mix of emotions - from frustration to heartache.

"Every day, as I look into the eyes of my non-verbal autistic son, I am reminded of the profound strength and resilience he embodies. In a world that often measures communication in words, he teaches me the true power of connection through presence and empathy. My son's inability to express himself verbally has unveiled the depth of his emotions, his joys, and his challenges, urging me to listen with my heart.

This journey has ignited a fierce passion within me, one that believes in the urgent need to strengthen our sociocultural and societal values. As a mother, I've witnessed firsthand the isolation that can stem from a lack of understanding and acceptance.

We live in a fast-paced world where genuine connections are sometimes overshadowed by technological distractions. It's time to rekindle the flame of human compassion, to teach our society that every individual, regardless of their ability to communicate conventionally, has a rich inner world that deserves to be acknowledged.

My son's silence has magnified the importance of creating a world that values patience, empathy, and inclusivity. By embracing diversity and adapting our interactions, we not only enrich the lives of those who struggle to communicate but also enhance our own humanity.

Let us prioritize understanding over assumptions, compassion over judgment, and love over indifference. Together, we can weave a tapestry of acceptance that nurtures the potential in every person, and in doing so, make the world a better place for my son and countless others like him."
